1 1/2 lbs. ground turkey
1 tbsp. olive oil
1 c. chopped sweet onion
1/2 c. chopped red and orange bell peppers
2 cloves minced garlic
1 tbsp. each of onion and garlic powder
2 tsp. each of cumin, smoked paprika, chili powder and coriander
salt and pepper to taste
1 tbsp. cocoa powder
juice of 1/2 a lime
1- 10 oz. can Ro-Tel chili fixing diced tomatoes.
Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add onions and peppers and cook fir 3-4 minutes.
Add garlic and sprinkle half the spices over the top, and continue cooking for 2 minutes.
Crumble turkey over the onion mixture, add remaining spices and cook for 7-8 minutes, until turkey is no longer pink.
Add tomatoes and 1/2 a can of water to the pot; stir and continue cooking for 35-40 minutes.
Adjust seasoning if needed.
Serve with topping of choice.
We served it with avocado and sour cream.
