2 1/2 c. sifted flour
pinch salt
2 tsp. ginger
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves
1 c. softened butter
1/2 c. light brown sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
8 oz. whole almonds
powdered sugar for dusting
Preheat oven 400 F.
Sift together dry ingredients and set aside. Cream butter, sugar and vanilla. Add dry ingredients to butter mixture, a little at a time, mixing well until everything is incorporated.
Spoon dough by teaspoonful onto an ungreased cookie sheet and press an almond into the center of each cookie. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes and cool completely.
Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
