5 c. assorted apples, cored and cut into small chunks
Juice of one lemon
1/2 c. light brown sugar
1/2 c. chopped walnuts
1 tbsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 c. flour
Pinch of salt
1 tsp. vanilla
Preheat oven 350 F.
Mix everything together.
Transfer to 9” x 13” baking dish that has been sprayed with cooking spray.
You can peel apples if desired. I prefer to leave the skin on.
Topping
1 stick of cold butter, cubed
1 c. oats (not instant)
1 c. flour
3/4 c. light brown sugar
Pinch of salt
2 tsp. cinnamon
Mix together dry ingredients.
Cut in butter using a pastry blender or two knives until crumbs form.
Sprinkle topping over apples and bake for 40 - 45 minutes.
Serve warm or rom temperature with fresh whipped cream or ice cream.
